I often get asked for case studies that illustrate some of the concepts that I teach in my professional development workshops. Accordingly I will assemble a number of these over time and add them to this page.
The first of these is a case study about the importance of differentiating for the benefit of a disengaged student.
As teachers we often hear that it’s important to differentiate. In theory we may quietly agree but we find ourselves asking questions like: What does Differentiation actually mean? Is it the same as Personalised Learning? How do I put it into practice? What’s the most important action to take? How do I even get started?
In this case study about a disengaged student, I show how a situation was turned into a differentiated learning experience. It also reveals some of the key elements that underlie effective differentiation in the classroom.
I work with teachers to help them implement real differentiation in a realistic manner. If your school would like some assistance to improve differentiation and ‘make it real’, contact me to discuss what it could look like.
